POLIGRAS TOKYO GT
A SUSTAINABLE REVOLUTION
With superior player and environmental performance Poligras Tokyo GT is the world’s first hockey turf to be made from re-growable raw materials and was designed to support FIH’s commitment to sustainable hockey.
Made from 60% sugar cane
The turf features filaments made from over 60 % renewable raw materials. I‘m Green TM bio-polyethylene is the plastic that has the same product properties as our conventional polyethylene, but is made from sustainably grown sugar cane.
Saves C02
Sugar cane is an ingredient that captures carbon dioxide, rather than releases it. This has enabled us to design and manufacture a turf to our exacting standards, but with a huge sustainable up-side, creating a new category; climate positive hockey.
‘I'm Green™ polyethylene, developed by Braskem, is a plastic obtained from ethanol derived from sugar cane that has already been processed for food. The sugar cane captures carbon dioxide from the environment, which means for every kilogram of polyethylene used in Poligras Tokyo GT turfs almost five kilograms of CO2 will be saved.
Less Water
Poligras Tokyo GT has a shorter pile and tighter knit which allows water to sit longer, therefore reducing the amount that is required. This, along with Sport Group’s other intelligent technologies means Poligras Tokyo GT requires significantly less water than previous turfs.
Durable with precise playability
The turf structure of Poligras Tokyo GT is specifically adapted to the Bio Based PE formula, enabling dynamic and precise playability.
Patented Entanglement technology in the filaments means the multi-directional surface remains stable in the long term and is protected against premature wear.
The CoolPlus technology ensures the turf stays cool even on hot days. The pigments on the surface of the turf fibres reflect the infrared part of solar radiation, whilst PreciTex process engineering guarantees the turf’s uniform colour.

SAFETY
Force Reduction
Force reduction evaluates a surface's ability to reduce impact force. This mostly relates to impacts generated by lower extremities, for example an athlete running. Our sport surfaces greatly reduce tissue damage, joint impact, sports related injuries and player fatigue.
Energy Return
With a high force reduction your sports surface will also provide you with a high energy return, this helps players play long and reduces recover times.
Elastic Layer Shockpad
The shock absorption layer of the Poligras® system is installed on site and consists of recycled SBR granules and bonding agents to ensure that the Poligras® synthetic surface is both stable and yielding to protect the athletes. Factors that are key in sports physiology, such as shock absorption and deformation, are permanently kept within a precisely defined value range thanks to the special APT formulation.
Water-permeable surface
Tokyo GT is a permeable surface which when irrigated, promotes fast and consistent playing conditions. Wet hockey surfaces are sophisticated in their design and structure to accommodate not only for the flow and storage of water, but the slow drainage from the pitch as well. Whilst engineered to meet very tight tolerances, the surface is constructed similar to a ‘turtle shell’ shape that slowly drains water horizontally towards the corners of the field, once through the permeable grass surface.
TECHNOLOGY
Green Technology
Our Green Technology executes a new generation of highly developed products that bring together cutting-edge technological expertise from the plastics industry. With functional and ecological benefits of natural regrowable raw materials, we are happy to introduce the first ‘GREEN’ environmentally friendly hockey surface with Tokyo GT.
Entanglement Technology
The exclusive 'Entanglement Technology' is a proprietary feature of the Polytex fibres, which interlaces the molecular chains in the turf fibre into a three dimensional matrix. The result is an exceptionally soft surface and greater protection against splicing with optimum playing properties and a considerably longer lifespan.
COOLplus Technology
Poligras Tokyo GT features our proprietary infrared-reflective COOLplus® sports yarn technology. Our proprietary COOLplus® yarn technology does not absorb infrared rays, translating into less molecular vibration and cooler surface temperatures. Studies show COOLplus® surface temperatures are consistently 10-20% lower than the competitive systems. The result is better player comfort and reduced need for irrigation!
PreciTex Technology
PreciTex enables precisely controlled crimping of textured fibres, regardless of the fibre cross-section. The result is a multi-directional and tightly sealed surface with optimum ball rolling behaviour, which simultaneously supports the cooling effect of the COOLPlus function.
Secondary Backing
QUALIBACK HYBRID EMULSION: Extensive research and development led to the highly successful 'Hybrid Emulsion' secondary backing coating to replace outdated technology. The upgrade of this critical system component is based on our chemical manufacturing excellence for formulating acrylic and polyurethane coatings. In-house manufacture and application of the revolutionary 'Hybrid Emulsion' secondary backing for artificial turf is a substantial improvement from conventional and outdated SBR latex.
Full Adhesion with Qualipur Seaming Adhesive
QUALIPUR SEAMING ADHESIVE: In-house manufacture of this polyurethane seaming adhesive creates unmatched seam strength. This increases the durability and longevity of seams which means fields have a much longer overall life expectancy. This strength also supports the athletes as there is no cause for lifting of the seams endangering player safety.
Optimised Ball Roll
Poligras Tokyo GT is redefining the speed of hockey. The ball roll distance on the latest Tokyo GT hockey turf is improved by around 15%, compared with Poligras Platinum which had previously proven its speed capabilities at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Exclusive Adhesion with Qualipur Spray Adhesive
QUALIPUR SPRAY ADHESIVE: In-house manufacture of this exclusive adhesive offers 100% adhesion of the entire pitch surface. This revolutionary adhesive application provides superior dimensional stability over 'loose laying' techniques for unfilled hockey surfaces. Reducing playing surface, delamination and frequent 'stick-tears' in high wear areas on aged unfilled turfs is the secret to longevity and minimising loss of water from the system once irrigated.
